The Winter VHF QRP Contest
rules in charge since Jan. 1, 2011

ΘAV - Bohemian-Moravian Amateur Broadcasters announce the Winter VHF QRP Contest.

Date - on Sunday every first full weekend of February. Every licensed ham can participate regardless of the country. This is an international contest.

Bands:
- 432 MHz 09.00-11.00 UTC
- 144 MHz 11.00-13.00 UTC

Modes: CW and phone, according to license rules. The IARU I. Region Band Plan (regarding modes) is obligatory.

By laws:

• Any QTH, mains power can be available.

• The whole equipment must be placed within a circle of 500 meter diameter. The contesting site cannot be changed during the event.

• Use of remote receiver or transmitter is not allowed.

• Only single signal allowed (no simultaneous operation). Packet radio signals used for cluster connection are not considered.

• More stations can use the same QTH, agreement depending.

• The output power of the final stage or the sum of output power of all transmitter used should not exceed 10 Watts.

• All devices used in the contest (transceiver, antenna rotator, keyer etc.) must be powered from chemical sources (batteries, accu) which can be charged during the contest from the solar panels, Peltier cells or man powered devices.

• Antennas can be set up first on the Friday before the event.

• Contacts via EME, cross-band and/or via terrestrial or space transponders (relays) does not count.

• Each station can be worked only once, both stations must confirm a complete contest exchange. Dupes must be clearly marked in the log (RPT, DUPE etc.), with zero point value

• Use of DX Cluster, chat, mobile phone etc. is not limited.

Contest exchange consists of RS (RST), serial number and WW locator. Serial numbering on each band must begin with 001. A complete exchange including serial number (from 001) must be given also from non-contestants. Three zeros - 000 - do not count as a regular serial number, such contact does not count.
Stations which does not want to make a contest entry must not provide a contest log.

Points: Each kilometer of distance between two stations counts one point. A point value of each QSO in the log must be an integer. A contact within the same WW locator ounts 1 point. According to IARU I. Region recommendation is the Earth curvature coefficient, used for conversion from degrees to kilometers 111,2. The exact contest site location should be determined using the WGS-84 system (World geodetic system 1984).

Contacts with non-participants allowed, however a complete contest exchange (including serial number) is mandatory.

Scoring: The final score is the sum of all points. Each band is scored separately but also all logs are counted regardless of the band. First three stations on each band and in the contest (regardless of the band) will receive an award.

Logs can be submitted in electronic or paper form.

• Electronic log must be in EDI format (REG1TEST), which is widely accepted as a standard format for contest logs within the IARU Region I. Other formats will be NOT accepted, such log will be not counted.

• Paper log - a good quality photo copy of a station log with clearly marked point count is accepted.

• A readable scan of a paper log with clearly marked point count can be also submitted via e-mail.

• All logs to be sent within ten day period after the event.

A contact does not count, if:

• The log contains any incorrectly received callsign or contest exchange (RST, serial, WW locator).

• The time difference against normal UTC time is 10 minutes or more.

Disqualification:

• for violation of license or contest rules.

• for untrue or incorrect data in the contest log.

• for bad sportmanship in the contest.
