IARU and DXing on VHF? Contradictory combination?

A few weeks ago on IARU web pages has  been published information about preparation of VHF interim meeting of IARU members representatives, which will be held on end of February 2007 in Vienna.

For this meeting was already submitted proposal for replacement of DX operation in the subband 144,315 to 144,365MHz by downlink of satellite repeater's operation. Downlink of amateur radio satellites is today allocated in the 145,800 to 146,000MHz, subband, but proposers, who are satellite lovers claims, that current satellite band is often occupied by pirats and due to that satellite downlink should be shifted to proposed band, which is almost unused, as they believe. IARU didn't comment it yet.

Because proposed changes may have major negative influence for our common interest, we believe, that would be important to declare our perspective on that proposal and inform about the result of opinion poll our national VHF managers.  Please send them link to this page.

And, when we already thinking about the VHF DXing future, we would kindly ask you to consider as well as the other proposed change - a year ago we (OK2KKW team) prepared for CRC this proposal, focused in contradiction to the above, to enlargement of 144 MHz DX segment, which is already very narow for effective high density operation, particularly during contests.

We hope, that your national VHF manager will consider result of that polling for his decision, what to support during Vienna interim VHF meeting.

This opinion poll was open for 3 weeks before Marconi Memorial 2006 Contest. Results of this survey in OK and OM, as well as opinion of our foreign visitors you can see below. We will inform you about response (if any) of CRC VHF managers OK1CDJ and OK2ZI.
