WA3LBI SK  RIP Jim!

I am sorry to pass on the extremely bad news that Jim Malone, WA3LBI, died today when working on a commercial television tower in Philadelphia. At present I do not have further details about this terrible accident.

Jim was a friend to many hams, and was active with EME on bands from from 144 MHz to 10 GHz. Recently he made a new world record EME contact for terrestrial distance, on 10GHz, together with Rex Moncur, VK7MO.

See http://www.arrl.org/news/new-10-ghz-earth-moon-earth-world-record-set

This is a terrible loss for ham radio, as well as for Jim's family.

Already I feel diminished. We will miss him very much.

PS: A brief update on the very sad news about WA3LBI.  Jim suffered a heart attack while on the ground at the tower site. Apparently he was holding a rope when he collapsed. Paramedics were able to get a heartbeat again, but Jim died on the way to the hospital.
