A few words from OK1KIR to an issue: “Initials Lists” and/or “What-is-an-EME-Initial”
There are continuously different opinions about initials and
time-to-time a discussion about that issue. 

Many stations even do not know how to evaluate
the call-sign worked to count it or not to count it as the initial.
Due to that fact a particular count of initials is often not a
serious summary of initials but only a summary of all call-signs worked,
which is fairly larger, of course, but misleading.
Unfortunately, a general directory comprising info-s about
different call-signs employed on the same EME site (antenna/equipment) was
not indicated for many years on a public site or somewhere else to help
that problem.


E.g., as we remember, the last one such directory was presented
already in the deep past as an enclosure to EME NL 432&up in Dec 1986 !!!


That old directory certainly does not include info about similar
initials like AL7OB/KL6M, WA3BUX/WA3FFC, DJ5NV/DL9NDD, Y22ME/DK3WG,
RB5EC/UT5EC, AA6WI/N6BQ, EA6/DF5JJ/EA6ADW, DJ4AU/DF0EME,
SM3AKW/SD3F, HB9MOON/HB9IZ/HB9HAL/... , W7BBM/W7JM, JR4ZZS/JR4AEP, 
S57NML/S59DCD and probably some others.


We, OK1KIR, propose here a small, quite simple attempt to rise up
attention about initial qualification.


A new general directory of similar initials, when added e.g. to
Dave’s, G4RGK summary of EME standings on
http://www.zen70432.zen.co.uk/Initials/What_is_an_Initial.htm,
would at least offer the possibility to seriously check the
particular call-sign worked for its initial status.


When such directory would be periodically updated based on info
received from different EME-rs (in brackets indicated when and from whom
rcvd), we think, it could improve the current situation and increase
credibility of many different standings, presented either officially and/or
 individually on many web sites.


We, OK1KIR guys, present our willingness to help with such
general directory, if wanted.

In addition to that we propose to improve the mentioned above EME
standings maintained by Dave, G4RGK simply by announcing the next closing date
for update reports to force a kind of regularity into time schedule of
update reports.
