From: moon-net-bounces@mailman.pe1itr.com On Behalf Of g4bao Sent: Saturday, March 22, 2014 6:35 PM To: Ukmicrowaves Subject: [Moon-Net] Small scale QRP EME DXpedition to the Isle of Lewis (IO68) Please pass this around the EME community. April 26th-May 3rd 2014 the Camb-Hams traditional Scottish Island activation will be underway. We're headed to the top of the Isle of Lewis in the Scottish Outer Hebrides (IOTA EU-010). The location is The Decca, IO68UL. Callsign GS3PYE/P http://www.rsgbiota.org/info/groupinfo.php?refno=EU-010 http://www.thedecca.co.uk/ http://no.nonsense.ee/qth/map.html?qth=IO68UL99OD While this is mainly an HF-VHF expedition (160 -> 4m), I'm continuing to educate the gang in the joys of "Achievable Moonbounce". And by this I mean EME that doesn't involve using a dish the size of Jodrell bank or a Yagi array the size of an apartment block. To that end GS3PYE/P are planning to take 400Watts and a 17 ele on 144MHz and 150W to a single 55element Yagi on 1296MHz. As you can work out by the system parameters, it'll focus on JT65c, but we'll be more than happy to reply on CW if we hear you. Look out for us on HB9Q and the 144MHz JT-EME chat, and work this very rare VHF/SHF square and IOTA. I plan to be testing the 1296 system from home in the weeks leading up to the trip so please call me if you see me on HB9Q. 73 John
