In any dxpedition we NEVER managed to work 150 qso's in one moonpass. So we are proud and lucky to have so many callers. Thank you guy's to make this possible. The issue about the man and the loudspeaker is solved. It was not the obvious what many people suggested but after a deep search we found a drunk tourist in a local karaoke bar singing 'Space Odity' from David Bowie. We are glad we solved this issue but are also a little bit disappointed by the suggestions (the regular calling for prayers) of some fellow ham's who did not realize we are experienced expeditioners and have been to Moslim countries before. Besides that we do very good research in the country and it's culture before departure. After we came back from shopping we started to build up the station. We use the proven 2x8 element I0JXX xpol yagi`s on our balcony. With two 20 meters long coaxcable`s we run to the shack in the livingroom which is two floors down. We didn`t have any disruption until the doorbel rang and a bunch of locals asked in local language what the heck we are doing on the roof! It was very difficult to explain but with the help of the official papers from customs and police (preparation!!) and a little help from our friend Google translate we could shake hands and finished with a small hamfest drinking Turkish coffee and tea underneath our antennasystem. Everybody was very happy. First test from the equipment looked promissing for the first moonpass. At 10 degrees elevation the Moon came visible over the mountain and rapidly we could work UA3PTW. Pitty we could not use the announced frequency because of local qrm/birdy and we had to switch to 144.112. This was a good start for our first successfull moonpass. Highlights are 4X1DG, XE2AT, FM8DY and our fellow expeditioners Peter and Hermann FP/DJ4TC FP/DL2NUD. The reception seems to be a little bit behind our expectations and experience. We will look closer to this issue after a short powernap. Will be continued... Next moonpass will be on 144.112 on 21 september at 18:00 GMT. After this, 2 moonpasses will be on 70 and 23cm as announced on www.emelogger.com/ta Moonpass from september 22nd till sept 23rd 432MHz. Moonpass from september 23rd till sept 24th 1296MHz. Last moonpass from september 24th till sept 25th dedicated for 144MHz. The ATeam, Jurgen PE1LWT, Johan PA3FPQ and Rene PE1L.
