The last resort of the fanatic, cast doubt on the person causing him a problem.

Make no mistake what we have here are fanatics, they assume they are right and everyone else is wrong.

When you tell a person that something they put a lot of time and money into, that is accepted as functional by a significant number of participants they are fools and what they do is useless you better be ready to accept comments in return

Stephen
As the founder of this meeting i decided when i started this that i will try to do something that looked like the meetings we had.

1988 PA3CSG did the 432 &UP meeting in Holland it was only 432 &UP   . There where meetings for 2 mt guys aswell arranged by a EA station thos days.
All the years untill 2002 in Prague this changed to be a an all band meeting, By some reason, that i dont want to meantion !!!!!
Then suddenly the meetings started to grow so much so it will be very difficult to handle by a small group.
The ideea of the Swedish EME meeting come up when i meet with an old friend SM5FRH, And to make it easy i posted all the info on moon reflector, instead of looking for all SM EME rs email.   easy  YES.
Then i got som interest from others,  And i decided that as long as you are active or will be within a timframe thats reasnable you are welcome, As im the only one doing this i decided to keep this in an small way and within the Core of CW EME rs    some of this Guys also do JT   and i dont have personal against them  But this meeting are to preserve CW and tecknik.
I have had hams asking that they will come and i have said this is not an open meeting, you have to be or become active, Thos persons got angry at me  OK but if i should say Yes and ok to every one then this will be to big = No more meetings.
Thats the reason
There is the Big Int EME meetings that should fill the need for every one, so The Swedish are for 432&UP Active EME rs   with the same interest doing CW the old fashion way

Peter,

If I were saying something about say CW vs Digital or some other topic you are absolutely right. HOWEVER, what i was talking about was a message to the world that there is to be a conference that ONLY CW operators are welcome to "we don't want 100's of attendees..."

I would like to gather more information on operating this mode in particular technical aspects of station improvement.  While it is unlikely that I would be traveling to Sweden for this trip it is offensive in the extreme to be told if you aren't active on CW and above 432 we don't want you go away

Stephen, you may not be aware of the history of the moon reflector as distinct from moon-net. Moon was set up about 6 years ago by Rainer DF6NA when Michael W9IP decided to censor ( or moderate) moon-net discussions when any discussion started that he considered controversial, in particular discussion of the merits of JT vs CW. This he is perfectly entitled to do, he owns it so he can set the rules.
However, when you say that something “.... has no business being on a public forum.” that is your opinion which you are free to express but remember that the forum you are referring to, the moon reflector, was set up to allow the expression of un-censored free speech on all matters EME, (a bit like the 1st amendment).
So, completely  irrespective of whether  you or I or anyone else believes the event in question should be open or by invitation it is a perfectly legitimate issue to discuss on the Moon reflector.

Dominique,

If this is truly an "invitation only" event then it has no business being on a public forum.  It almost reminds me of Orwell's great quote "All animals are created equal but some are more equal than others"

I find your argument somewhat specious, if you want to find more acceptance you have to be more inclusive NOT less.  Besides I would question the intelligence of someone who went to a CW meeting and expected digital stuff.

You want a CW only event GREAT!!, like minded folks should be able to gather and trade information.  Just don't parade it down the throats of others who don't agree with your position.

Your arguments are reasonable, however there might be a legitimate desire for talks about EME without pol issues, software gimmicks, chatrooms, "own" frequencies, deep search and QSOs which do not comply with our understanding of the ingreediants of uncorrupted random contacts.
This explains a meeting which you call a "clique" - wich is on invitation only.

Is this unfair? It definitely is what we are out for. It is EME.

Clique's barely have a place in High School and certainly do not have a place out in the real world.

Certainly there are differences in technique and problems as we go higher in frequency especially 2GHz and up. A specialized meeting dealing with a narrower focus might allow exchange of substantially more technical data.

On the other hand "if you don't use the mode I like you can't come" has no place what so ever in amateur radio. The real base concept should be to show others what can be done and why operating a much more difficult mode is so rewarding.

So Lars for people like myself using JT & CW on 144Mhz doe this mean I am not welcomed?? This year I am going to EME 2014 & most of the people I will meet are on 432 & up most of them are CW operators some of them are both JT & CW. The reason I am going is I want to learn more about microwave EME & particularly 10ghz. I know I am welcome in France as a moonbouncer regardless of the mode I use or the frequencies I operate on.& that is the way it should be
I think Lars we are too small of a group to start subdividing moonbouncers into groups of interest.  It is too bad !I love the Scandinavian countries & I was looking for a reason to go there. I have to tell you i am truly disappointed. Anyway have fun if you can!!!

hi Serge
The meeting are as the info reads it aims to Active hams on 432 and up and yes mostly  CW  There are  a meeting this year that turns to peoples intrested in digital on all bands.
The meeting i organize  would only be 432 and UP and for active ops. Im not intrested to have several 100 s of attendies since it would be unpersonal and difficult to handle.
does this clarify your thoughts?

Lars
Tell me is this ONLY for folks doing cw ONLY?   How about people who do both? Can you give us the criteria on who qualifies & who does not?
Thank you
