Hello, As some of you may know, during last 1.5 year me and my son Maciek SP7MC were working on a 6m dish project. Finally, last weekend we were able to make a first test on 70cm CW eme! We were working hard before the weekend, but there was still much work to do. During half of Sathurday window we were struggling to mount dual-dipole feed during high wind. There was no time to prepare any serious feed mount, optimize focal distance or even center the feed properly;) We had to mount feed "just anyhow" and pray it would work;) We were not ready with polarization rotor, so we had to mount feed in fixed polarization for now. We have choosen H pol - but next hours shown that it was wrong decision;) First sun noise test shown 12dB - not optimal yet, but quite OK for so temporary quick instalation of feed. As TX and power amplifier were not used for about a year there were some problems that limited the output power. Another problem was that we had no time to put SSPA near the dish, so we had to deal with about 100m of coax from shack. I belive we had about 300W, maybe maximum 350W at feed. It was a late Sathurday afternoon when we were able to work OZ4MM as a first qso with new antenna, after many months of work:) We had a lot of fun during the weekend and were able to make 14qsos. I believe Mr Faraday was not cooperative at all - I wish we had mounted the feed in V pol on Sathurday morning. Anyway I found signals stronger than with the old 4 yagi array. The highlight was qso with Paul WA6PY that I belive is a single yagi station. I do hope to get 23cm equipment running on new dish before Dubus Contest in June. Later I will get back to get 70cm fully optimized (polarization rotation, feed adjustment, move SSPA to dish etc).
