41 US State 5 Month Roving Trip

As most EME ops know, Peter-KA6U has been on a "Grand Tour" of the US
states. He has operated on 1296, 432, 222, and 2M EME from 45 states in
the US(maybe more, I lost count). He has been instrumental in new WAS
awards for 222MHz and 1296MHz. There may have been a 432 WAS in there
somewhere too.

Peter has told me that the costs for this extended rove has been in excess
of $25,000 and in particular the costs have been 50% higher than originally
planned. This is due to the current economic situation here in the
US--very high gas prices, food prices, costs for motel rooms, and
everything else.

I want to ask those of us in the EME community that have benefited from
this historic "Grand Tour of the States", to make some donations to Peter
to help with his unprecedented costs. If we can provide more support for
Peter, he can do more roves. Peter's PayPal address is

KA6U Update - August 29 - 1930UTC
Activation in MD is complete.
After activation in MD I was able to return to the hotel in WV and set up
the station to provide QSOs to some who missed the earlier WV operations.

Total of 80 combined QSOs on 23cm from WV and MD on the trip

Upcoming Operations:
Virginia FM19eh - August 30 - 1400UTC - 1800UTC 23cm (a little later
because of trees)
Tennessee EM96cl - September 2 - 1800UTC - 2359UTC 23cm (latter if mountain
not accessible)
NOTE: Starting the TN activation at 1800UTC depends on whether I can access
a mountaintop location in EM96DJ07 at 36.4069 -81.7455. If the mountaintop
is accessible I will have a short window to EU. If not there will be no EU
window at this stop. This is the only time I can stop on this trip in TN
due to other commitments. I will definitely come back to TN, maybe this
Fall, when the Moon is at high declination.

I will activate NC and SC on the 3rd and 4th of September. Again there is
not a good EU window. The trip back to TN would include NC and SC
activations.

MD, VA and TN Activation Plans
I visited and tested the activation site for MD tomorrow. The location is
in Brunswick, MD in the middle of the CSX Railroad yard near the Potomac
River in FM19eh45. The site in Virginia is directly across the Potomac
River in FM19eh43

Plan:

Maryland FM19eh - August 29 - 1400UTC - 1800UTC 23cm
Virginia FM19eh - August 30 - 1500UTC - 1800UTC 23cm (stop when storms
start)
Tennessee EM96cl - September 2 - 2000UTC - 2359UTC 23cm

I know that the date for the Tennessee activation is no good for EU. I
can't avoid that on this trip. I need to get back to Florida by September
6th. There will be an opportunity for me to go back to Tennessee in the
future.

Final activations this trip will be over the weekend in North Carolina and
South Carolina.
