****** VUSC Installation ****** - The INSTALLATION DIRECTORY PATH must NOT contain any SPACES, DOTS or HYPHENS. - For the upgrade to a higher version enter the existing VUSC directory as installation directory. Only new and/or changed files will be installed in that case. - If you want to use parallel LPT port for CW, rotator or bandswitch control you can optionally install DLportIO driver by running Install.exe from the subdirectory DriverLINX\install before the start of VUSC. Otherwise the driver installation IS NOT NECESSARY. This option works ONLY ON 32-bit Windows. - For the rotor control over USB with the PIC adapter install the MBUSBprt driver as described in the manual. This option works ONLY ON 32-bit Windows. The driver for the rotor adapter with Arduino will be mostly installed automatically at the first connection of the controller to PC (see the instruction manual). ****** VUSC start ****** - If you want to use Microham the USB-driver (delivered with the Microham) must be running and the relevant virtual COM ports must be created before the start of VUSC (see the Microham documentation). - On Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 run the program as Administrator by right clicking on VUSC.EXE or on the shortcut on the Desktop or set it permanently in the shortcut properties (see the manual). When starting the program for the first time after the installation respond "No" to the "Quick restart" query. Also when starting for the first time one of the template config files will be used according to the display resolution as there's no individual setting yet. - If you experience problems with the start after the upgrade delete the file vuscwin.cfg. One of the template config files will be used according to the display resolution then, but you have to renew your private setting in this case. - If the program crashes after new installation a bug in the sound card driver was indentified as the most common reason. In this case start the program from command line "Start->Run" with the argument nosnd and/or change the shortcut properties: vusc.exe nosnd This switches off the sound card entirely. The funtions depending on the sound card can't be used (SSB CQ call, CW monitor and audio recording), but the CW keying functionality is retained. - If you have installed the DLPortIO driver for another application in your 64-bit Windows or there's an old version of DLPortIO after the Windows upgrade it may cause program crash. Use the parameter nodlp to switch off the driver load in that case: vusc.exe nodlp The old *.DIX files from the DOS VUSC version 4.03 can be read, but they are automatically converted to the new Windows format when saved and can not be used by the DOS version any more.
